to train for all of the *thons I am planning (marathon, triathlon, Ironman-athon). I love it because it tells you what to do. I am a follower, just tell me what to do. I don't want to have to think up a plan and hope it is fitting the need. I sure don't want to hire a coach - do you know how much that costs? Oh my Lord, you would have to take out a second mortgage for someone to tell to spin then run. That just does not sound right - pay someone to make you suffer.
Anyway, back to the spinning and running. I follow my little plan everyday. Today's said: ride your bike at a moderate pace for 60:00, then immediately run for 10:00. I know what they are trying to do. It is extremely difficult, and one of the hardest thing to train for, to go from a circular spinning motion to an up and down running motion. This was my first trial with it. Let me just say 3 things:
- OH MY LORD!
- It is very difficult - I felt like I did not have the coordination to stay on the treadmill.
- 60:00 is a long time to spin - it feels like you are all out of juice after the ride and run.
Every once in a while I tell Richard that I have really earned my shower. Well, I really did this morning. I swam last night and went to bed with wet, chlorine-smelling hair. Then, I threw on some yoga pants and a t-shirt and did the stuff above. I had to wear a hat because my hair would scare people. So, I had sweaty, chlorine-smelling hair matted to my head and I had been sweating chlorine sweat for an hour and 10 minutes. I stunk - and that shower was awesome!
